REBA Sets Final Schedule for State-wide Mortgage Discharge Workshops6/5/2006REBA’s Continuing Education Committee has announced the final schedule for a series of ten two hour workshop programs on the recently enacted mortgage discharge law, Chapter 63 of the Acts of 2006, which takes affect on October 1, 2006. The workshop programs, which will include over 20 forms for use with the new law, will each be sponsored by a title insurance underwriter. Workshop dates include August 16th, North Dartmouth; September 7th, Peabody; September 12th, Natick; September 14th, Newton; September 19th, Boston; October 3rd, Lenox; October 4th, Holyoke; October 18th, Braintree; October 24th Worcester; and October 25th, Hyannis. These free programs are open to all members of the Real Estate Bar Assocation as well as agents of the workshop’s sponsor. Members of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Assocation (MMBA, the Massachusetts Bankers Assocation (MBA), and the Massachusetts Credit Union League (MCUL) will also be invited to these programs. These lender trade associations collaborated with REBA in the three-year legislative effort to enact the bill. Registration for each workshop will open four weeks prior to the scheduled workshop.
